UNILVER PROJECT SUNLIGHT AND QUEEN LATIFAH

EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!! UNILEVER PROJECT SUNLIGHT & MEETING QUEEN LATIFAH!!!!

We want to share some exciting news with all of you. We would like to share information on a partnership that Kylee started this fall with Unilever Project Sunlight. Unilever Project Sunlight is an initative focused on encouraging people to take small steps to create a brighter future. Kylee was chosen to be 1 of 8 young people from around the world and 1 of 2 chosen from the US to participate in an international ad campaign to end hunger in the world. She was the youngest of all participants! It was an honor and privlege to be a part of this amazing project!

In October we traveled to Mumbai India where Kylee was part of a film project on childhood hunger and other world issues. We are finally allowed to share information on the project!!

The project is launching on Monday, November 17th. Kylee has been invited to be part of the launch of the national ad campaign. She will be appearing on the Queen Latifah Show on Monday, November 17th . The show airs at 9 am on Channel 4 in our area of Massachusetts. Should you live in other locations please check your guides for the channel and time that the show will air in your area. We wanted to let you know so that you might be able to see the show or at least dvr it in order to watch it later in the day.

After the show airs the ads will begin appearing on national TV bringing awareness to food insecurity and childhood hunger. The ads will also be shown at movie theaters throughout the country! We have just returned from Los Angeles where Kylee taped the segment for the Queen Latifah Show! It was an honor to meet Queen Latifah and appear on her show! We are thankful that she is helping to spread the word about childhood hunger!!

We are hoping that this ad campaign will bring awareness to childhood hunger and inspire others to do something to help!! Part of the campaign is the Share A Meal program where we encourage and challenge others to share a meal in their own communities. We will be planning a Share A Meal event in the near future in our community and would love to have you all be a part of it with us. Once we have finalized our Share A Meal event we will be sure to let you know!

Look for "A Youthful Ambition to Help Turn The Tables On Hunger"on the site under New Leaders to see Kylee's story and one of the ads that will be released.

If you google Kylee McCumber Project Sunlight there are many articles on the project as well as some of the video. At the end of the month Kylee's full speech will be on the Project Sunlight website. Please note that some of the information will not be on the sites until Monday after the project is launched during the Queen Latifah Show.

Please share this exciting news with your family and friends and challenge them to share a meal!!! If we all work together we can end childhood hunger and make a difference in the world!! Kylee's dream and goal is that no child goes to bed hungry!!!

On Saturday September 27th from 9 am to 5 pm we will be participating in the Annual Johnny Appleseed Festival in downtown Leominster. We will be located in front of the library on West Street. WALK FOR HUNGER

WALKING TO PREVENT HUNGER - KYLEE'S KARE KITS FOR KIDZ 2ND ANNUAL DAY OF CARING EVENT AT SKY VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL

 

On Friday, September 19th at Sky View Middle School students will be walking to prevent hunger within our community. This will be the 2nd Annual Day of Caring event organized by Kylee's Kare Kits for Kidz. In order to particpate students are being asked to bring in a food donation for Ginny's or a monetary donation for Kylee's Kare Kits for Kidz. The participating students will then walk up and down Kennedy Way. We hope to have many students participate in this walk!!

 

CROSSFIT EXP HOLDS 2K FUNDRAISER FOR KYLEE'S KARE KITS FOR KIDZ

WHO can participate: All members, friends & family of CrossFit EXP and the Kylee’s Kare Kits Foundation...

HOW to Participate: Monetary or Food Donation ($20 Value minimum)

-Purchase food donation from list and bring to CrossFit EXP

The WOD:
Co-Ed Teams of 5 complete the following in chipper format. Each team has 1 rower and each athlete much complete a 2,000m row before the completion of the WOD.
Two athletes working at a time with one athlete on the rower.
200 Pull Ups
300 Kettle bell Swings
400 Wall Balls
500 Burpees

MACY'S SHOP FOR A CAUSE SATURDAY AUGUST 23RD

 For the second year in a row we are participating in Macy's Shop For A Cause Event on Saturday, August 23rd. This is an annual event that Macy's holds to help non-profit organizations like ours to raise money for their mission.

For a $5 donation to Kylee's Kare Kits for Kidz we will give you a shopping pass to be used on Saturday August 23rd for "25%... off on regular, sale & clearance items, including home- even save on MOST brands usually excluded!" " Save 10% on electrics/electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses, and rugs/floor coverings." The exclusions are listed on the back of the savings pass.

Everyone purchasing a pass will also be able to complete a raffle ticket for a chance to win a $500 Macy's Gift Card. One hundred percent of the $5 donation goes to Kylee's Kare Kits for Kidz.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL WITH SOME OF OUR LITTLE FRIENDS

On Saturday, July 19th we spent the afternoon with a group of our little friends at the Days Inn/Shelter. Knowing that the children rarely get to have ice cream we decided to have an ice cream social for them. We provided them with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, punching balloons, hula hoops, jump ropes .... and had donated gently used clothing and toys that the children could choose from. These are all things that most of us take for granted!! The children were fantastic!! They played with their new trinkets, played games with members of Kylee's team of friends, and enjoyed ice cream!! We would like to thank everyone who made this day possible!! If any of our Facebook friends should have any gently used childrens clothing or gently used toys that they would like to donate to the children please reach out to us! The ages range from babies through high school. There is also a need for baby diapers, wipes, formula and baby food. Thanks again for your continued support of our mission to help these children!

There are 11 groups that are doing community service projects in this competiton. During the week of May 6th until the 10th the United Way's site will hold voting for the best Star Project.
